What can Vegans consume instead of milk? Can only rich people be Vegan? There is this opinion that Veganism is expensive because people think that they need plant based "alternatives" to be Vegan. For example people think almond milk, soy milk, mock meat, peanut curd, margarine, agave syrup etc. are all necessary to be Vegan. Now there is nothing wrong in eating those foods but they are only alternatives if one feels they want to eat foods that are "as tasty" as meat/dairy/eggs/honey. It is for satisfying your non vegan cravings without exploiting animals. But truth is a diet comprising of grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seed and supplemental B12 along with adequate sun exposure is more than enough to give all your nutritional needs. We do not NEED replacements for dairy/meat/eggs. Remember even if we cannot find a substitute that satisfies our cravings it still does not justify consuming meat/dairy/eggs/honey as an animal’s right to be free is more important than our tastebuds.
