It's the 208th Anniversary of Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo today. Ever since moving to Ramsgate, I've been unable to walk along the romantically named Plains of Waterloo without singing this song to myself. I tried it live, but the frequent loop buses and wind weren't my friend, the aim was to sing The Plains of Waterloo on the Plains of Waterloo though, so goal achieved. I never fail to find it poignant and sad that the very final view of England for the thousands of soldiers who didn't come home was the white cliffs of beautiful Ramsgate, so here is Ramsgate's own Plains of Waterloo with the song of the same name, and big thanks to Sid who recorded and photographed his embarrassing Mum.
