Top 10 SECRETS of a Good DRAW/Backspin/Screw-Back SHOT

Dr. Dave and Samm Diep demonstrate the Top 10 secret tips for improving your draw (or backspin or bottom-spin or screw-back) shot. They include: Intro (0:00) 1. Chalk Up (0:40) 2. Aim Low and Carefully (1:28) 3. Warm-Up and Check (2:13) ---- 3a. Eye Pattern (2:36) 4. Keep Cue Level (3:36) 5. Go Back Slow (4:23) 6. Accelerate Smoothly (5:09) ---- 6a. Draw Distance Control (5:52) 7. Keep Your Grip Relaxed (6:48) 8. Be Still (8:52) 9. Don’t Drop Your Elbow (9:20) 10. Finish the Stroke (10:55) Useful Draw Practice Drills (12:16) ---- side pocket drill (12:19) ---- BU Exam I - F4 - Progressive Practice drill (12:55) ---- Three-times-the-angle "good action" draw drill (13:42) NOTE (concerning Samm's apparent crooked stroke at 3m7s): When I watched this shot in person, I was standing right behind the camera and I don't remember her stroke being that crooked. I think I would have noticed if it was, and I would have asked her to shoot again with a straighter stroke. I think it looks crooked in the video partly due to perspective issues with the camera angle and pendulum swing. I have seen this effect is other videos also. Samm's aim might have been slightly off and she might have hit the CB slightly off center, but her stroke was not as crooked as it might have appeared in the video. Again camera perspective can create optical illusions since the vertical angle of the cue (up and down) is changing during the pendulum stroke. Here is a follow-up video that clearly illustrates this effect:    • Is this Stroke Crooked ... or is it P...   Supporting Resources: - draw FAQ resource page: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/d... - how to chalk: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/c... - chalk type: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/c... - miscue limit: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/s... - eye pattern: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/e... - cue elevation effects: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/c... - open bridge: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/b... - bridge length: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/b... - pre-shot routine “best practices:" https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/p... - stroke fundamentals and “best practices” advice: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/s... - pendulum stroke: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/s... - follow through: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/s... - elbow drop: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/s... - BU Playing Ability Exams: https://billiarduniversity.org/testin... - 3-times-the-angle system “good action” draw: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/d...
