For whatever reason this specific 3DS only works perfectly with one or two SD cards I have tried, every other card at some point in time will somehow make the 3DS think that write protection has been enabled. Due to that, it made this 3DS very difficult to upgrade in terms of storage. It used to belong to my younger brother, so at the time I traded him my working 2DS for his broken 3DS and ordered the spare parts to fix it up. I finally got around to cracking it open...
