Makar Sankranti 2020: People purchase kites ahead of Jan 15 celebrations in Vizag

People in Visakhapatnam were seen purchasing kites ahead of the upcoming Makar Sankranti celebrations on January 15. Kites in different shapes, sizes and colours were put on display by shopkeepers to attract customers. Residents were seen buying eagle and butterfly-shaped kites, some shops even featured kites with tigers printed on them. The Hindu harvesting festival is celebrated across the country to mark the end of the winter solstice and the sun’s transit into ‘Makara’.
