We have just opened a brand new ETSY shop that will host jewellery made by Nicole, using a selection of beach finds from our videos - we also take custom orders. Of course, Tiliabythesea will still be open for business. Today we are at Dysart Harbour, the location for the French port of Le Harve, as seen in the popular TV show, Outlander! The village is also known as the seat of the Earl of Rosslyn, the very same family who own Rosslyn Chapel, made famous in Dan Brown's Book, The Da Vinci Code! Once an Earldom in its own right, the village became a district of Kirkcaldy when the 5th Earl's fancy for gambling, bet the estate away. It is said that St Serf sought refuge at a cave in the heart of Dysart - the story places him here in 500AD... The cave has three natural chambers, but its not known which one the devil was hiding in, when, as the story goes, St Serf fought him there all those years ago! We lark about in the harbour, where Nicole finds her second pipe stem - 10 years of mudlarking and only two pipe stems found! They're not as common here as they are in London! Its a great find! Nicole also finds a lovely pottery shard with, what looks like a whale's tail! Inspired by the whale, Nicole decides to make a beautiful, and unique, necklace/pendant to add to our ETSY shop! We travel through the hill - what an amazing tunnel, built in the 1820s!! The tunnel opens up onto a small beach - we find some lovely views, but only a few treasures this time around - maybe that is the beach telling us to come back another day! Invitation accepted! As the sun begins to set and the sky promises a beautiful summers evening, we set off for home, our heads full of Dysarts incredible history! Social Distancing: Although we would love to take you futher afield, we will have to wait until we are allowed to do so. At present, we are following guidance to only travel short distances, remain local, and adhere to social distancing recomendations. We are very fortunate to live in the Kingdom of Fife where places like Kirkcaldy, with its vast beach front, are on our doorstep and are seldom visited by any more than a handful of people at any time.
