(29 Sep 1999) Natural Sound Serbs blocked Kosovo's main east-west road for a second day in a row, while British troops stepped up their presence in the Serb enclave outside Pristina. The Serbs' protest follows the grenade attack in near Kosovo Polje which killed three Serbs and injured dozens of others. A British tank rumbles down a street in the village of Bresje. But the town is quiet except for the sound of mourning coming from the house of Zivojin Drajkovic. He was one of three Serbs killed in Tuesday's grenade attack in the village's market place. His wife, Milena, weeps and asks the other mourners, 'Is this what we deserve?" The market attack has enraged a Serb community already bitter about what they consider to be favouritism by the NATO-led peacekeepers towards the ethnic Albanian majority. Serbs fear Albanian extremists are trying to drive all of them from Kosovo, which Serbs consider their cultural heartland. To show their anger over the deaths, approximately 200 Serbs have erected a roadblock across the Pristina-Pec highway. The protesters are demanding that K-FOR increase security for the Serb community, saying that otherwise they will have to leave Kosovo. They waved Serb flags and photographs of the dead Serbs and defiantly gave the three fingered Serbian salute. Later in the day, Zivojin Drajkovic was taken to a nearby cemetery for burial. As the funeral procession made its way through the village, the was a heavy KFOR presence. Troops guarded the road with tanks and helicopters flew overhead as they walked towards the graveyard. A Serb Orthodox priest presided over the ceremony as Zivojin Drajkovic's family wept by his graveside. But some Serb villagers looked anxiously over their shoulders- fearful of another surprise attack.
