Statement by Ms. Julie Amoroso-Garbin, Regional Lead for RCC Asia and the Pacific at UN Climate Change at The Role of Pacific Youth in International Climate Negotiations: A Prelude to COP29. As the world prepares for the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the voices of Pacific youth are more crucial than ever. This webinar amplified the perspectives of Pacific youth in international climate negotiations, fostering their active participation and representation at COP29. The webinar featured Ambassador Samuelu Laloniu, the former Permanent Representative of Tuvalu to the United Nations in New York and Special Envoy of Tuvalu for the Rising Nations Initiative, as well as Ms. Anne Rasmussen, Climate Lead Negotiator for AOSIS, as keynote speakers. Additionally, statements were delivered by Ms. Zoraya El Raiss Cordero, Climate and Environmental Specialist at UNICEF Pacific, and Ms. Julie Amoroso-Garbin, Regional Lead for RCC Asia and the Pacific at UN Climate Change. The panel also included appearances from Rising Nations Delegates Kalita Titi Homasi from Tuvalu, Risen Baso from the Marshall Islands and Kato Ewekia from Tuvalu.
