Trains shown in this video were filmed between 11/24 and 11/28. This past week trackside on the Norfolk Southern Memphis West District has been a good one, NS ran several interesting lashups and some rare locomotives by here, namely one of 7 SD90MAC's, a Citirail leaser, my first "Heritage II" ES44DC leader, and a YUUUUGE consist on 16Z. :P 0:43 - TEN, count 'em, TEN Norfolk Southern locomotives on train 16Z. Filmed on a cloudy Thanksgiving morning. Aside from the delivery train of T4's I filmed in June this is the most locomotives I've ever seen on one train. Link to Tier 4 video - • NS M6A with 13 brand new Norfolk Sout... 1:48 - Keeping the lights on even on Thanksgiving day : a NS crew brings yet another train of PRB coal by Germantown en route to Sheffield Alabama and then the Scherer Power Plant in Georgia. 3:18 - The next morning I caught another Scherer coal, this train with a NS SD70ACe trailing. NS power has been fairly scarce on these trains for the past 4 months, but we're seeing more of it lately. 4:58 - A02 with a rebuilt geep in the lead 5:53 - After picking up 50+ empty stone cars at Vulcan Quarry by Rossville TN NS A02 heads back towards Memphis with this geep workin' hard, turn up the volume! 7:12 - 733, empty coal bucket, rolls westward with a solid NS lashup 8:48 - The Westbound "Express" aka NS 265 rolls west behind a BNSF "Heritage II" ES44DC. This was my first time seeing one of these lead, since BNSF switched to the H3 scheme roughly around the time GE started building GEVO's the vast majority of them are painted in H3. 9:56 - Early on Saturday morning a short 22N heads east behind a UP SD70M 10:55 - After 22N along comes 734, a loaded Scherer coal bucket, with a Citirail GE working as DPU. Lead units were two BNSF GEVO's...I forgot to upload them. :P 11:38 - 391 with an older UP SD70ACe trailing. This train runs daily from Sheffield Alabama to Pine Bluff Arkansas, NS hands it off to the UP in Memphis 12:55 - 22N runs east as light power on a chilly Sunday morning, this was the first time I've seen 22N run lite from Memphis to pick up ALL his cars at Rossville. Most days he leaves Memphis with quite a few cars and picks up a few more at Rossville. 13:38 - Later that day I caught a Rossville to Memphis baretable move with a pair of BNSF units in charge. These two units were dropped at Rossville from an empty coal the day before. 15:03 - 736 heads east under a huge downpour....listen to that rain! :P 16:17 - On Sunday afternoon I heard per Facebook that 23N was leaving Atlanta with a SD70ACU leading one of the few active SD90MAC's.....so Monday night I was out to see 23N, however to my disappointment they had swapped out the ACU somewhere (probably Sheffield) for a Dash8 & a pair of UP SD70M's. Was still nice to see the SD90. Also filmed a rare KCSM DPU this evening on 737 but the camcorder had problems and couldn't save it to card.... :P oh well. Anyways watch in HD and enjoy!
