Scrub jays are basically the west coast equivalent of blue jays in the United States (except one species does occur on the east coast...). There are multiple species of scrub jays and their relatives, and they may be found in Central America, as well. Scrub jays are about the same size as blue jays and they love to eat acorns! Sometimes young scrub jays will stick around with their parents and help raise their siblings - other times they just leave as soon as they're able.
