Saturn was incorporated as a separate company and designed and built all of their cars with no help from its GM, but eventually GM took over Saturn and assimilated their products with GM's other models. The GM bankruptcy marked the end of Saturn as GM could not sustain a brand whose cars were simply rebadged versions of other GM cars.
