INDIA'S SCIENTIFIC TEMPER AND ITS SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE | Prof. Dr. Kapil Kapoor |

Contemporary Anglo-American educational typology of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts begs many questions as does the assumption of 'Scientific'. But assuming that by 'Science' we mean those domains of knowledge that are quantifiable, measurable and now 'digitise', and therefore amenable to empirical epistemologies, and are prestige as such, we propose today to talk of India's given scientific temper, its scientific heritage and its foundational contributions that have in fact enabled the subsequent formation of what are known as modern Sciences and Technology. This needs to be talked about because in the last few decades, many Indian scholars have researched and published about India's contribution to Science to unnecessarily try to convince it the West that Indian thought is not merely other-worldly and metaphysical, which is what the world has mistakenly, and partly on purpose, believed and propagated believed for the last almost 100 years. We hope to suggest the 'threshold science' that the West has been researching since World War II, has its seeds in the Vedic Sciences.
