John Deere variator adjustment for 110, 112, 200, 208, 210, 212, 214, 216

This video shows how to adjust the Variator on a John Deere 110, 112, 210, 212, 214, and 216. (I am using a John Deere 212.) How to Adjust The John Deere Variator 1. Right under the variator lever you will see 2 holes, they may still have the block off plates over them. 2. Pop off the cover to the front one, or the one closest to the front of the tractor. You will need a 3/4" socket to fit the bolt inside that hole. 3. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it so the tractor will not start before you do anything. Now place the variator lever in the 5th hole from the back, which will still leave 3 holes forward of the lever. 4. Then loosten the variator bolt 2 turns, and crank the engine over while watching the clutch pedal. The pedal will start moving upwards, and you will keep cranking the engine until the pedal is up as far as it will travel. 5. Go back and tighten the adjustment bolt, and you're done. When you try the tractor out, place the lever in the first hole. If the tractor moves forward with no slipping, you're done. If it won't move when in the first hole, you need new belts.
