Call for #SOSCuba! Since Sunday, July 11th, the clamor for freedom in Cuba that swept the island in the form of an outburst, appropriated Fredy Villamil’s work. Since that day, the young Cuban painter who is exiled in South Florida, has created unique works in which his artistic expression reflects the feelings of the Cuban nation diaspora - committed to the call of struggle that has been heard from his land. Villamil's works, inspired by the popular rebellion that takes place in Cuba and its repercussion in other cities of the world, have found publication space in the printed editions of Diario Las Américas, as part of a special section. Villamil's originals are being used as the cover of these special sections published every week. From this collaboration, which arose from the informative mission of a communication media and the artistic vision of a painter, originated the idea of expanding the so-called #SOSCuba to tour exhibition halls of the country and the world. The call is on behalf of the captive people on that island who live at the mercy of a totalitarian regime. The call is for everyone who does not know about Cuba to turn their eyes to the genocide that is committed against the defenseless people through art expressed in the form of news. The call is for everyone who appreciates life to be interested in the need to do something for freedom to reach Cuba. Art and the media have always been an expression of the great moments in history and this is no exception. Diario Las Américas and Fredy Villamil join in this call for #SOSCuba, which anyone who feels committed is invited to participate in.
