Happy Hobby Days and Keep 'em Running! See you soon! ---------------------- The Tamiya Dual Ridge is a 1/10th scale 4WD Off/On Road Buggy from 2014 based on the Tamiya TT-02B Chassis. It employs a futuristic body design by Takayuki Yamazaki of PDC Designworks. The first little test run coming up here in a couple of days! Please subscribe, like and comment to support. It is greatly appreciated. Check out my channel for many more Tamiya models. For this controversial buggy, I decided to leave my comments out of the video and just let the Dual Ridge speak for itself. I am curious what your initial thoughts are of the TT-02B and the Dual Ridge model? For those interested in my personal thoughts and the TT-02B, here is a write-up followed by the specifications of the Tamiya Dual Ridge. I am definitely not deserting the DF-02 project and I hope that I am able to put together a few good comparison videos with the two projects in the nearby future. Agreed, many have been sceptical about the TT-02B chassis and the design of the Dual Ridge. And for good reasons it seems. The TT-02B is a VERY low riding entry-level buggy and the Dual Ridge is not a very typical buggy design for 2014. My desire to check it out originated out of three reasons: First of all, the TT-02B chassis, being the unofficial successor of the DF-02 chassis, seems a very logically step to go for after a long experience with the DF-02. Though very similar in design and concept (the DF-02 sharing drive train with the TT-01 and the TT-02B being a buggy version of the TT-02) the TT-02 seems to have taken notice of the weaknesses of the DF-02 and TT-01 and a features a number of improvements, mainly in terms of durability of the chassis itself and accessability to internal components. On the other side, it features a downgrade of the drive train: Where the DF-02 is supplied with internal metal ball bearings, metal gears and metal drive axles, the TT-02Bs equivalent parts are plastic. Secondly, the temptation to try out a bit "different" design, reminiscent of the late 1980s/early 1990s space/aero/futuristic era that I remember so well, coupled with an extremely good deal of the XB Dual Ridge version on Tamico , was a bit too high. Honestly, the two other TT-02B models, the Neo Scorcher and the Plasma Edge II, are extremely pleasing to my eyes. So pleasing, that I suspect one of the two, or both, some day will be featured on this channel too. But for now it's actually a bit liberating to get my hands on something that is not the typical and "perfect" 4WD Tamiya buggy design ... but very Tamiya'ish nontheless. The third reason is that I hope the TT-02B will make up a good hop-up project. Even though these projects can be seen as extremely foolish from a logically point of view (if one really wants a great 1/10 buggy it would definitely be wiser and more financially healthy to pick up a higher grade buggy from the beginning) I am fascinated with the process of tweaking these entry-level buggies. I already got a number of parts that I would like to try out. For an example, will the DF-02 Universal Shafts fit the TT-02B? I removed them from the DF-02 after a try-out, but as the suspension/drive shaft angle of the TT-02B is different from the DF-02, this might be the perfect fit. That's it! Looking forward for a new Tamiya Buggy Adventure with the TT-02B!
