Looking For Treasure In Pokemon's Trash Cans | Pokemon Investigation

Today's ridiculous Pokemon deep dive will have us scouring the empty trash cans of Pokemon to see what treasure we can find. Is checking the trash cans in these games a waste of time? or are there diamonds hiding in the rough? Let's find out. Pokemon has a long track record for hiding all sorts of secrets and bonuses across the games, and those who really dive in and engage with the medium are rewarded handily. Whether it's new Pokemon, items, dialogue, or even just beautiful sights or sounds- they make the experience richer for those who leave no stone unturned. In the original set of games, one place where one of these Pokemon secrets could be found was in a trash can aboard the S. S. Anne, with a Great Ball hiding in the can. And while this was a relatively mundane encounter in the moment, it would go on to inform a mindset and sort of FOMO for players for checking trash cans, that for the most part seem to be empty 99% of the rest of the time. But we always check just in case. The Treasure in Pokemon's Trash Cans are a fleeting one! In order to analyze this phenomenon in full, we'll be collecting all the trash available across every generation of Pokemon game to see what's really true here. How much trash is there? Is it worth checking- just in case? From the S. S. Anne in Pokemon Red Blue and Yellow, across the Village Bridge in Pokemon Black and White, all the way up until Pokemon Sword And Shield's Motostoke, let's take out the garbage for a retrospective on Pokemon's trash.
