Painting Grimdark troopers - Khorne Warriors

Khorne Chaos Warriors are a walking shade of red with gold trim. At least if you look in the old Warhammer Fantasy army book. And it has not changed with The Old World. While the colors are pretty much the same as the Chaos undivided warriors a different method for application using the strengths of oil colors give a slightly different result. The limited palette, very close to the famous Zorn palette, gives the freedom to concentrate on the application and finishes the job in a time similar to that using contrast paints. The result is not an individual pieces of art but it is mainly because the aim was a tabletop ready trooper and not more. This warrior is grim and dark enough to provide a backdrop for your awesome looking grimdark general or monsters. While most people probably stick to acrylic colors just showing what can be done with oil colors could be inspiring for any miniature painter. Perhaps the Wolves of the Sea from the new Arcane Journal: Warriors of Chaos are suitable to paint as gory berserkers? The colors used are Oxide red - For the red hue Oxide black - To darken things (regular black is probably just as fine) Burnt umber - Because it is the base of any medieval army Buff - To brighten things up A large part of the speed achieved is due to the method does not put emphasis on precision which also means that rather large and low quality brushes can be used. We also need some brushes of no particluar quality It might seem like a very limited palette but together with the base metals it can take us quite far Today we are going to exploit espessially one trait of oil colors, they are not permanent 0:00 Intro 1:32 The Khorne theme 1:46 Metal colors 2:13 Oil colors used 3:12 Cover in red, black and brown 3:51 Wipe of 4:24 Painting with oil colors 5:28 Blood stains 5:46 Basing 6:01 Result 6:29 Explaining the painting method 7:28 Fast or slow is you choice
