Fall Wild Mushrooms are Tasty! In this find clean cook series we'll look at seasoning... what I believe is the best seasoning for bringing out that chicken flavor in chicken of the woods mushroom. After roughly 8 weeks of no rain... we finally got a day worth rain and the mushrooms are starting to POP!!! It took no time at all to find chicken of the woods... this mushroom can be seen from hundreds of yards away and you really don't have to worry to much about look alike mushrooms. Chicken of the woods is a great beginners wild mushroom and wonderful to eat. I found 3 different flushes. I was really looking for Hen of the woods but didn't find any yet... I'll keep looking! October is a great time to find wild mushrooms and some of the most desirable edible mushrooms fruit at this time of year. You just need the rain to support the fruiting's.
