"Structural racism is at the root," say the activists. "A social structural perspective will yield greater contextual perspective," say the continental philosophers. What on Earth are they talking about? It's not gobbledygook -- it's just different. Follow along as Social Science faculty member James Cook discusses the meaning of the phrase "social structure" and introduces a few of the many varieties of social structures that sociologists study in their research work.
