Around 3,000 years ago, the Indigenous peoples of Kentucky made several innovations which are visible in the archaeological record: the development of agriculture, the use of pottery, and the construction of earthen mounds for burying the dead and as ritual spaces. These changes mark the start of the Early Woodland period in the archaeological record. In this video, I flintknap a stone projectile point from this time period and discuss the Early Woodland period archaeology in Kentucky. Music used under Artlist license 808614
