In Kannada culture, the statue is known as Gommateshwara, while among Jains, it is recognized as Bahubali. Notably, the Gommateshwara statue is renowned as the world's largest monolithic statue, standing tall at 58 feet. Shravana Belagola hosts a significant festival called Mahamastakabhisheka, which occurs once every 12 years. The most recent festival was held in February 2018, and the next one is scheduled for 2030. During this grand celebration, the Bahubali statue undergoes a ceremonial bathing process using sandalwood paste, turmeric, water, sugar cane juice, rice flour, saffron, and other sacred substances.
