We learn the aaroha (the ascent) and the avroha (descent) and how to create a simple alap. The rhythm is then introduced, and we learn about teental which is a 16 beat rhythm on the tabla. The major part of the class is devoted to learning a song (bandish) in Raag Bhoopali, which is set to Teental.
