Flying the World’s Oldest Aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator | Blériot XI by Wing42

Absolutely spiffing flight for you today! Join me in the Blériot XI by Wing42 as we attempt to replicate two previously attempted world record flights. We’ll be first having a crack at the most famous flight of the Blériot XI and the one that put her on the map, Louis Blériot’s flight across the English Channel in 1909. We’ll be flying the original Anzani powered variant of the Blériot which was hopelessly underpowered and incredibly challenging to fly. We’ll be starting Saint-Inglevert (LFIS), which is close to the original starting point of this flight, where we’ll make our way across the channel to Dover where we will try and settle the aircraft down near a field close to where Blériot crash landed! For the 2nd flight we’ll follow in Jorge Chávez’ footsteps and replicate the first flight across the Alps in 1910! This time we will fly the Gnome engine variant of the Blériot XI which had twice the power of the Anzani and was a little easier to manage. We will take off from Raron Airport (LSTA) which is close to the original start point in Brieg, Switzerland and try to climb as high as possible in the valley to reach sufficient altitude. We need to reach at least 2,000 meters (6500ft) to make it over the peaks and then follow the mountain valleys to Domodossola in Italy, landing at a small strip called Aviosuperficie Chavez/Marini. Tragically, Chávez’s crashed just minutes away on his attempt! Massive thanks to Wing42 for allowing me to giveaway a free copy of this study-level representation of this iconic 1909 flying machine! I’ll also purchase and giveaway a 2nd copy of the Blériot XI to a lucky winner too. Each giveaway will take part after the respective flight Let’s see how we fare against the feats of these daredevil early aviators who pushed the boundaries of flight! =========================================================================== You can support the stream and donate via PayPal!: https://streamlabs.com/flightdeck2sim Flightdeck2sim merchandise is out now! - https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/fl...
