WRGB, WTEN, WXXA Analog Transmitter Shutdown

June 12, 2009 - Full power analog TV transmitters are required to shutdown at midnight. Here's the last few minutes for WRGB (6), WTEN (10), WXXA (23) and WCDC (19) in Albany NY. No fanfare for any of these, which was a bit disappointing - especially for WRGB considering it's historical status as the first television station in the nation. These four stations were the last to shutdown in the region; WNYT (13) & WCWN (45) having signed off earlier in the day, WMHT (17) back in April, and WYPX (55) last year. As we scan thru the channels after all the sign offs, you'll notice I come across one signal - that being WNYA-CA (15) the local MyTV affiliate. Since they are a low power Class A station, they get to continue on for the time being. There are a handful of other LPTV signals still on elsewhere in the region, including 49 Gloversville, 8 & 47 Glens Falls, and 52 & 58 Albany.
