Hurricane Irma is a Category 4. Hurricane warnings cover most of central and south Florida. Irma moves along the Cuba coast tonight creating dangerous wind, and storm surge. It could be catastrophic for parts of Cuba and then Florida. All of south and central Florida is a likely target after Irma passes over the Florida Keys on Sunday morning. It is almost certain that Irma will directly impact all of the Florida Peninsula, on a northward path, with only slow weakening. While the exact location or track is totally unknown, the odds of Irma heading directly to the WKRG News 5 area remain low. Be prepared as you would normally be during hurricane season. Hurricane Jose is a category 4. That makes it the third major hurricane of the season. It is east of Irma in open waters of the Atlantic. It may strengthen more and may also impact the northeastern islands of the Caribbean like Barbuda and Anguilla tomorrow, before turning northward in the Atlantic and meandering for several days. Those are the same islands that were hard-hit by Irma. Hurricane Katia in the southwestern Gulf will drift inland into Mexico tonight as a hurricane and rainmaker.
