Quantum theory tells us how microscopic things work, but how does that affect our everyday lives? It turns out that you can use quantum theory to design sensors capable of detecting things that you’d never otherwise be able to see - from distant stars to minute properties of our bodies’ cells. This talk explains how quantum correlations provide this useful edge that is spawning the next quantum revolution. Aaron is a theoretical quantum optician who just received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and now works at the National Research Council of Canada. His research interests include the generation and manipulation of quantum coherence and its use in metrology.
