Historiography and the Lit Review

This video lecture discusses the literature review as a necessary component of a research paper in History. It notes that historians often call this section the "historiography," and discusses the other definition of "historiography" as the study of grand theories and schools of interpretation. Notes that the "lit review" is the discussion of authors' interpretations concerning the topic of the paper. The lecture also discusses how the student should think about the lit review and about "entering the scholarly conversation. Finally, introduces strategies for finding appropriate literature, some of which is also discussed in other lectures. Produced by Dr. Martin T.
