A Trip Along The Line at Crich Tramway Village

If you've seen my other videos, you'll have seen parts of the line and not necessarily in the right order! So here it is, the whole line from the top of an open-balcony tram! The more alert of you will notice that its from two different trams: Glasgow 22 and Blackpool 40. The line is just under a mile long, and was built in stages as funding became available. Mostly built with volunteer labour, sections are being replaced by external contractors almost every winter now. In the past few years, Wakebridge has been completely relaid, Town End terminus has been replaced, Victoria Park (Northbound) has been replaced, and in the winter of 2011/12 the final approach to and south points of Glory Mine are being replaced and refurbished respectively. Ooh, unintentional alliteration... (Try saying that when you're drunk!) Anyway... the line grew steadily North from Crich, firstly terminating at the present position of the Bowes-Lyon bridge, then at the end of the double track, then at Wakebridge, and finally the Extension to Glory Mine opened in the 1970s. A lot of work, and a lot of volunteer labour goes into keeping the Museum site looking as great as it does, so I hope you come to the Museum in 2012 to fully appreciate everything there, from what you can see in this video to some things you can't see from the camera angle, and the recently refurbished and redesigned exhibitions, including one that was brand new last year! Feel free to leave comments on anything you like, positive or negative, and even perhaps ideas for videos YOU want to see!
