Fished Hopedale La Speckled Trout Redfish Scouting Trip

Justin Henderson and I AJ fished Hopedale this morning. First thing he puts the trolling motor down it comes on and instantly goes off. It's the Chinese plug burnt up on a 2 month old boat. Thank god I had electrical tape and was able to hard wire it to make the trip. This has happen countless times over the years with cheep plugs buy a good Marinco 70amp plug and be done with problems. We found a few different sets of birds. Didn't want to weed though catching 10 trout to keep 1 under birds so we went hunting and ended at the dam. The water was coming in very hard from the N/E winds. I was hoping the tide would fall but Justin was ready to call it around 11:00 I was glad because it was getting Hot! We've been fishing the northshore finding some willing trout but we haven't found the big speckled trout plenty small 10" some 12" and 13" trout plenty white trout everywhere on the northshore. We'll be trying a few days on this side of the lake this week might give Delacroix a shot mid week.
