Japan | Walking Across the Mountains of the Kii Peninsula | Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Pilgrimage Route

Japan's Kii peninsula, which is mostly within the Wakayama Prefecture, is a sacred place in Buddhism, Shinto, and Shugendo, and it is home to the ancient pilgrimage route of Kumano Kodo, which has been recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Together with the three grand shrines along the way, the title "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" has been given. In my quest to achieve "dual pilgrim" status, after completing one of the trails of Camino de Santiago, I had to walk along one of the pilgrimage routes of Kumano Kodo. Immediately after completing the Everest Base Camp Trek, I flew to Japan to go through the Kumano Kodo. I spent 6 days hiking across the peninsula, including the visit to the last grand shrine in Shingu. The rain did not stop me from my goal, although the myths about the stretch of mountains between Koguchi and Nachisan made me hesitate to walk in the rain. Nevertheless, I decided to power through the most difficult section of the Nakahechi route, even though I was already exhausted from all the trekking I did in Nepal. After this, I had a chance to visit the seaside town of Katsuura and the cities of Osaka, Kyoto, and Himeji. Enjoy this silent hiking video through Japan's Kii mountain range. ___________________________________________ Music courtesy of https://www.epidemicsound.com/ ___________________________________________ 0:00 Camino recap 1:00 Kumano Kodo Intro 3:34 Day 0: Tanabe City 5:00 Day 1: Takijiri-Oji to Chikatsuyu 10:18 Day 2: Chikatsusyu to Fushiogami-Oji 18:37 Day 3: Fushiogami-Oji to Yunomine Onsen through Kumano Hongu Taisha 25:37 Day 4: Yunomine Onsen to Koguchi 30:44 Day 5: Koguchi to Kumano Nachi Taisha (Nachisan) 37:41 Day 6a: Nachisan to Kumano Hayatama Taisha 41:36 Day 6b: Katsuura (Nachikatsuura) 44:13 Day 7: Osaka 47:18 Day 8: Kyoto 52:48 Day 9: Himeji ___________________________________________ #nippon #japan #travelling #trekking #trek #kumanokodo #Nakahechi #tanabe #Kiipeninsula #Takijiri #Takahara #Hongu #KumanoHonguTaisha #KumanoNachiTaisha #KumanoHayatamaTaisha #shrine #mountains #Kiimountainrange #peaks #pinoy #pinoytraveler #rivers #waterfall #japanese #wakayama #osaka #kyoto #himeji #hiking #altitude #travel #silentvlog #mountainscenery #wanderlust #holiday #vacation #active #multidayhike #pagoda #alone #solo #solotravel #learningjapanese #travellingjapan #japantrip #japanesestyle #japantravel #japaneseculture #japanstyle #japanfood #japanesegarden #japanlife #japanesecuisine #japanesedog #JapaneseRestaurant #japangirl #japanlover #japanfocus #unesco
