After ChatGPT: NEW BioGPT by Microsoft | Do YOU trust Microsoft for your Medication?

Yesterday on Huggingface the BioGPT model from Microsoft was published for everybody to experience. BioGPT is a generative pre-trained transformer on (human) BIOMEDICAL topics. With a focus on medical and drug interactions, this GPT has been intensively pre-trained and then fine-tuned by Microsoft on biomedical data. Also on the question answering (downstream) task. Yes, BioGPT gives you an answer regarding biomedical topics. With the publication on Huggingface, everybody can download and experience BioGPT. The arxiv research pre-print by Microsoft on BioGPT you can find here (please respect copyright): https://arxiv.org/pdf/2210.10341.pdf This system is an important learning ground for the scientific community, regarding highly domain specific data models, since GPT wants to achieve a similar status like the BERT systems current enjoy in BioMed. The authors state correctly: " BERT-like models (are) pre-trained on biomedical domain, and they obtain superior performances." But there is a difference between a system that focuses on understanding human language (like BERT) and other systems that generate human (biomedical) text, given an initial prompt (like GPT). Given the example in my video, I would initiate the thought, that such a biomedical system, BioGPT, (at this time in tech development, with its current limitations) should be evaluated before made available to the general public for medical questions, since some might not understand the inherent limitations of GPT systems, especially about the accuracy regarding LLM generated biomedical answers (eg medication for humans).
