The Tube Tape Echo is designed to sound like the Market Electronics Tube Echoplex from the 60's, you know, the green one! Sweet and warm repeats with a subtle tape warble that adds a slight chorus effect for extra dimension. Fulltone has completely redesigned this classic unit to maintain a vintage tone without the extra AC noise and tape hiss! Why a Tape Echo you ask? Because no pedal or rackmount, analog or digital delay can reproduce the warm and natural saturation of a tape delay. If you have ever played a healthy Echoplex then you know what we are talking about. Is it noisy or unreliable? Older tape delays had a history of being unreliable and noisy. However, the Fulltone TTE is dead quiet. Full tone has reworked the electronics, the tape path, and the tape cartridge itself for smoother operation and less signal noise. They've also handwired the audio path and use custom made tape heads that will last a lifetime. The Tube Tape Echo will actually produce less noise along with higher quality repeats than most delay pedals. Best of all, you have 3 stereo modes to choose from for an extra wide echo. How much delay time? The FullTone TTE can produce anything from a quick slapback echo to over two full seconds of delay. Featuring a dual speed toggle switch, the user can choose between high and low speeds of operation, which also takes you from a warm vintage tone to a Hi-Fi sound. Is the Fulltone better than the Vintage Tape Delays? The AC motors found in vintage tape delays were inefficient and noisy. The Tube Tape Echo uses a servo-controlled hi-torque DC motor and a brushless DC cooling fan. The result is a quieter and more stable motor that is 1/4 the size. Not to mention the fact that these are still handmade in the USA and built to last longer than the original Echoplex!
