Did you know that the damaged cartilage cannot effectively repair itself due to the lack of blood vessels? In this episode of our podcast series "Joint Ventures," orthopedic surgeons Dr Sean Leo and Dr KC Ang of Orthosports Singapore expanded on Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) and Autologous Matrix Induced Chondrogenesis (AMIC). In BMAC, bone marrow is harvested and spun down to mesenchymal stem cells, along with growth factors and cytokines, then embedded in a scaffold (AMIC) and grafted to the chondral defect.
