Local artist Amy Burkman brings Salinas youth to life through a compelling 30-minute short film and vibrant murals, showcasing the transformative impact of Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL). This free music program isn't just changing young lives—it's creating a positive ripple effect throughout the entire community. The film and murals tell a story of resilience, creativity, and the power of artistic expression. Through these visual narratives, we witness how music education opens doors to self-discovery and empowerment for Salinas youth. Discover how a single program is orchestrating change, one young musician at a time. Amy’s background is in live art and murals. For 15 years, she’s been creating art with a purpose of helping others. This project resonates deeply with Amy’s own experience as a young artist. A local teacher opened up opportunities for top art students that they wouldn’t have had otherwise. His belief in these students changed everything, planting the seed for them to pursue their dreams. That’s the message of this film - by helping young people believe in themselves and planting that seed of possibility, we can make a profound difference in their lives.
