Parrandas

Visual content NOT available for Creative Commons license. Filmed entirely on the Phantom Flex 4K on December 24th, 2017 in Remedios, Cuba. Several of these scenes will be shown in an upcoming IMAX film titled "Cuba". Our crew escaped from this event uninjured. Unfortunately, there were around 40 people not able to say the same. It was by far the closest I have ever come to being seriously injured during a shoot. At one point I found myself scrambling for cover and falling backwards to the ground with the Phantom landing on my chest. Our 1st AC Leo Reyes was standing where the largest explosions occurred but he took cover about 30 seconds prior. Video from one of the attendees. The idea became a tradition and evolved over the years to become the massive street party that has remained until today. Rituals and procedures were invented, such in 1871 when it was decided that the ringing of the church bells at 9pm on Christmas Eve, would signal the summoning of competing neighborhoods to present their parades. Nowadays, there are 2 teams that come from traditional barrios in the town: San Salvador which uses the colors red and blue and who's symbol is the rooster El Carmen which uses the color brown and has a globe as its symbol Music track licensed with permission DP: Dustin Farrell 1st AC / Phantom Tech: Leo Reyes Producer: Josue Lopez Lozano Co-Producer: Giselle Gallego Nerey BTS: Daniel H.
