Soloing Secrets - Gary Moore

Here's the next episode of Soloing Secrets with Gary Moore. I've featured this late-great Irish blues-rock legend in both a Three-For-All and Chordplay episode in the past, but I figured it was finally time to tackle his impressive/inspiring lead guitar style head-on, which is exactly what this lesson contains - so let's dive in! This lesson focuses on several specific areas of Gary's playing style, and while I could've featured a ton of standard blues-rock licks/phrases from his music, I decided instead to focus on his targeted melodic phrasing over chords and progressions, which is a large portion of what you'll hear in those classic songs/solos from Gary's lengthy and impressive career. We're also hitting lots of melodic phrases, some slick muted scale/arpeggio ideas, a melodic extended bending idea, and much more! The song-based examples in this lesson were pulled from Gary's early-mid 1980s output, including those timeless albums such as Victims Of The Future, Corridors Of Power, and Run For Cover, to name a few. Some of the licks/phrases in this lesson came from classic Moore songs such as 'Hold On To Love,' 'Out In The Fields,' 'Always Gonna Love You,' 'Once In A Lifetime,' 'Still In Love With You,' and more! Needless to say, if you're a Gary Moore and/or blues-rock fan, or a player searching for some new approaches to playing over chords and chord progressions, not to mention picking up a slash of tasty licks/ideas from a bonafide electric guitar legend - this lesson is totally for you!
