Live at De Duif | 25 May 2024 Part 2 Discover the timeless journey of “Old Signs, New Sounds” with Marmoucha Orchestra, where historical richness and modern vibrations merge. This special concert during Old Roots New Routes, featuring the beautiful voices of talented female vocalists with Moroccan, Turkish, and Iranian roots, presents a fascinating mix of traditional folk music from these regions and innovative compositions. The musical diversity of Morocco, Turkey and Iran is highlighted along with the cultural influences of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations, age-old writings where the legendary goddesses Ishtar, Anahita, and Tanit make their voices heard again. It is an adventure full of musical exploration; from the deep sounds of Berber and Andalusian music to the rich melodies of Kurdistan and Khorasan, enriched with original arrangements by Arin Keshishi, Maripepa Contreras, Antonio Moreno Glazkov, and Ardashes Agoshian. “Old Signs, New Sounds” offers a visual and narrative experience that breathes new life into the Phoenician trade routes. Dive into a world where music, history, and visual art merge into an immersive experience that bridges old heritage and contemporary sounds. Let yourself be taken on an adventure where history and contemporary creativity meet, where the past comes alive through music.
