Gobeshona session: The Adaptation Research Alliance - a new global initiative for action research

The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) had its soft launch, "The ARA: A New Global Initiative For Action Research" as part of the Gobeshona Conference, Research into Action on Locally-Led Adaptation. The event took place on January 23rd. The session features: · A presentation of the ARA Gobeshona Declaration, showcasing a joint statement in which ARA partners endorse and commit to co-developing this partnership over 2021. · A panel discussion, “Bridging Research and Action: The Necessity of an Ambitious ARA”, providing insight into the barriers and enablers to catalysing investment for action research and climate adaptation, and how these lessons can inform the design and focus of the ARA. · An overview of the Road Ahead, sharing next steps for the development of the ARA in the run up to COP26 and a call to action for all interested actors to join us in shaping a transformative global partnership.
