Here are a couple of clips featuring Jimmy H. Woo's first generation students. The location of the demo was in Chinatown, Los Angeles and the year was 1974. It was the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Jimmy occupied the last spot on the program, just after the firecrackers. The previous "exhibits" were a series of Lion Dances and Kung Fu performers kicking bags and doing traditional forms. Frequently eye glasses could be found strapped to the participant's heads. Our segment began and Jimmy would announce "Lady and Gentleman, Boy and Girl." ... Where upon someone would yell out, "Get someone up there who speaks English!" Jimmy would continue and then all HELL broke loose as out guys gave a demo that all would remember. A second demo would be held at the LA County Fair. 1976 was the last open air demonstration, and the following year, 1977, was held under the Race Track. Jimmy noted that lots of the guys who came to watch were his students, they were being charged 5 bucks to see him and there wasn't a lot of additional audience space. As far as Chinatown went, a new leadership emerged and Jimmy was no longer offered the prestigious time slot and so he withdrew from the "Show."
