Is the Powers John's Lane Cask Strength a good whiskey? Let's find out! 12 years ago, Powers launched their John's Lane whiskey, which was well received as one of the best Irish whiskeys on the market, and immediately welcomed as a modern classic classic Irish whiskey. Now, Powers have released a cask strength version of this iconic whiskey, which will be a continuous addition to their portfolio. It comes in at a lovely cask strength of 57.8% ABV, which is considerably higher than the classic John's Lane and was mainly matured in first fill American bourbon casks with a small addition of Oloroso sherry matured whiskey. Tasting Notes: Nose: Plenty of earthy and spicy notes, with tobacco, leather, black pepper and rich cocoa sitting on top of sweet toffee and a flash of green apple Palate: Immediately rich with pot still spices, vanilla and honey, with a nice amount of cream and hazelnut balancing out the spice and the warmth of the alcohol Finish: As the finish fades, the heat from the ABV and sweet vanilla also fade, leaving the earthy notes from the nose and the pot still spice to linger on ------------------------------------------------------- I'm a total whiskey nerd and this channel is all about Whiskey, Whisky, Bourbon, Rye, Pot Still Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey.
