Nick and I ran Eggy Burn on 13/11/23 whilst the whole North East decided to flood and pour down with rain. We left Durham at midday and headed to the Teesdale area, we were only going to kayak if it had been raining that day... and since the night prior, it never stopped! It was the first time on technical white-water in my new boat, the Waka Tutea, (bought second hand) as I finally decided that I had outgrown my 7.6 mamba. It glided through the rapids, I felt like I could focus on my lines and get the power I needed when I wanted. In terms of the river: The slot was present but not undercut so we agreed that the level was high and continuous - what a great river to run! Lots of boils and lines to find - lots of trees too... good mental paddle as well as physical. Very happy with the day and my paddling and so excited to share the video!
