In this film, he played an ambitious and talented musician named Levee Green. This was his final performance, showing the depth of his acting talent. Ralph Richardson 1902-1983 — Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) British actor Ralph Richardson was posthumously nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984). Richardson played the role of the Earl of Greystoke, who takes Tarzan under his wing. He passed away in October 1983, before the film's release and the announcement of the nominations.
