In her presentation, How to Be a Good Ancestor, Karen will explain how to preserve your personal archives for future generations. She will review the preservation issues that most archivists must cope with, and will identify attainable strategies for a family historian to use to give their family records the best chance of long-term survival. Karen Urbec, MLIS, CA, is a librarian, archivist, genealogist, and researcher. She is the Archivist and Digital Assets Librarian at the Bridgewater Public Library in Bridgewater, Massachusetts where she strives to reveal and disseminate the unique and valuable information stored in the archives. She is also the owner of New England Genealogy Associates, where she works with clients large and small to assist them in their family history research. Karen holds a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida and has been a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists since 2020. Her genealogical education includes coursework at Boston University and the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy. She can be reached at [email protected].
