As the name suggests it turns out nice and crispy. Chakali is an all-time favorite Marathi snack option. This is an instant chakli recipe. It means if you don’t have chaklichi bhajani at home, this is the recipe just for you. This is a very easy and simple recipe. If you don’t have time to make bhajani or if kids are asking for chakli, then follow this recipe and let the kids enjoy!! Try this recipe at home and write to me. Ingredients: • 2 cups Rice flour • 1/4 cup / 4 tbsp Besan • 1~2 tbsp white Sesame seeds • 1/2 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds • 1 tbsp Coriander powder • 1 tsp Red chili powder • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder • Salt to taste • 2 cups Water (2~3 tsp less than 2 cups) • 1 tsp Oil • Oil for frying Method: • Mix rice flour, besan, sesame seeds, carom seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt well together in a bowl. • Heat up water in a pan and add oil. • You can use ghee or vanaspati ghee in place of oil. • When the water begins to boil, turn the heat to low and add the dry mixture into the boiling water. • Mix in quickly. No lumps of flour should be formed. Turn off the gas. • Cover and steam the dough for about 5 minutes. • Transfer the ukad into a dish and knead it really good when it is still hot. • Take out a small portion from the dough and knead it really good. • Roll it into a cylinder and fill into the chakli mold. • Press it well and roll out chakli on the butter paper. Seal both the ends well. • Heat up oil on low heat in a pan and drop chakli into it. • Fry chakli well on low heat from both sides. • When chakli begins to settle at the base of the kadhai and bubbles reduce, it means chakli is fried well. • Take the chakli out, drain excess oil and transfer it on a wire rack. Chakli is ready. • You can make around 40 chakli from the proportions we used. • Store the chakli in an airtight container once it cools down completely. These have shelf life of about a month.
