Meeting Christopher Daniel Barnes at GalaxyCon Live - February 14th, 2021

While most people spend Valentine's Day showering their significant others or loved ones with gifts, dates, and movie nights, I spent mine with the voices of Eric (Christopher Daniel Barnes) and Ariel (Jodi Benson) at GalaxyCon. I started off with Barnes where we talked about the upcoming live-action film of The Little Mermaid and how he felt honored to lend his voice to the animated film while it was in production. I initially assumed that Barnes was 16 at the time, but it turns out he was a year younger, which I found to be surprising. The occasional person in real life, especially a lot of younger kids, say that I sound feminine and was once mistaken for a woman so I was able to laugh it off when I brought up a long-distance friend during that part of our session. His voice is also extremely deep for his age and that's why I said he sounded like he's either in his 20s or 30s, but yeah. It's just something that happens as we get older and Barnes's deeper voice was apparently what Mary V. Buck and Susan Edelman, the casting directors for The Little Mermaid, were looking for. I'm not going to say who I'm talking about because I think he'll kill me but if he watches this recording, he knows who he is. 😂
