9 Upgrades I made to my MATE X Bike

My Mate X is modified from the standard bike and I wanted to do a video to run through all of the modifications I’ve done so far as the bike needed to be improved and by replacing some of the original parts it now rides like a completely different bike. I’ve included the time codes to jump to each of the modifications and linked to the parts I used below. 0:00 - Intro 2:44 BMX Handlebar and Stem 4:19 Display upgrade Eggrider V2 5:54 Tyres upgrade Vee tire Speedster 6:24 58T Chain Ring Upgrade (130mm BCD) 7:18 Pedals upgrade 8:20 Reflector upgrade Black Rim Tape 9:13 Front suspension fork upgrade 10:15 Rear suspension upgrade 11:47 Bike Lock Upgrade Links to the upgrades used and where possible a cheaper amazon alternative as I’m aware that some of these companies are based in specific countries or you might just want to order through amazon. Handlebar Stem https://geni.us/BMXStem1 (amazon affiliate link) BMX Handlebar Blank for peace - https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/b... Amazon alternatives: https://geni.us/BMXHandlebar (affiliate link) Eggrider V2 display - https://shop.eggrider.com/eggrider-v2 Vee Tire co Speedster these are notorious for selling out fast so I’ve included two places in Europe to get them, but they aren’t available on Amazon (if anyone has a link for the US let me know and I’ll add it) https://urbandrivestyle.com/products/... And https://ebikeparts.shop/product/ebp-v... 58T Chainring 130 BCD https://geni.us/58TChainring (affiliate link) The Park Tools video on adjusting the derailleur after you replace the chain ring    • How to Adjust a Rear Derailleur – Lim...   Pedals: The pedals I’ve used are the KCNC Platform pedals which look like they’re no longer available outside of Switzerland but here’s a cheaper alternative on Amazon if you want to keep the same style and they’re also available in other colours (affiliate link) - https://geni.us/MagPedals Rim Tape Reflectors CustomTaylor33 is the probably the best place for this as they’re high quality, fit perfectly and you even get extra in case you mess up the installation. Just make sure you select the 16” size as bike wheels are measured differently to motorbikes - https://geni.us/CT33Black (affiliate link) Front Fork upgrade I got mine from aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/i/33034063... But the same fork is available on Amazon as well if you want it faster (affiliate link) https://geni.us/FrontFork204 Nuke proof starnut and top cap (needed when changing fork from the original) https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/m... Amazon alternatives: This one comes with spacers if you don’t want to cut the new front fork to the exact size - https://geni.us/Headsetspacer (affiliate link) Alternative with just s cool bolt and top cap (affiliate link) - https://geni.us/F6qGaV Pipe cutter tool - You’ll need to cut down the top section of any front fork you buy and you can use a saw but this is much easier, faster and gives a clean cut (affiliate link) - https://geni.us/pipecutter Star Nut tool - You don’t need this but it makes putting the star nut in so much easier and it will go in correctly first time. I hammered the star nut in by hand on the grey bike and it took me 3 tries and quite a bit of time to get it in straight, I bought this when I changed the fork on the black bike and I wish I had it before. https://geni.us/StarNutTool (affiliate link) Rear Shock Upgrades: DNM Rear Shock (affiliate link) I’m running the 165 but the 190 will also work if you want more comfort but it's a little higher - https://geni.us/DNMRear Rock Shox monarch RL - I’m now running this shock on the grey bike and moved the DNM one to the Black bike (affiliate link) - https://geni.us/RockshoxRL Note on the RockShox upgrade: it doesn’t come with the hardware installed so you’ll need 2x of these rockshox 24x8mm spacers which always seem to be out of stock at the moment. You'll need a bushing tool to install the hardware, I tried installing them without this tool to be cheap and it was impossible (affiliate link) - https://geni.us/RearShockTool The Abus Granite Extreme 59 D-Lock (affiliate link) https://geni.us/Granite59 Camera Gear I used in this video Insta360 OneR (360 mod) https://amzn.to/3CvOwMl GoPro Hero 7 Black - https://amzn.to/3yC14iN Rode Video Micro - https://amzn.to/3AslX0i Canon M6 (with 15-45mm Kit lens) - https://amzn.to/3fPT5Hj
