“Hollywood Homes” A fly-by video of a work-in-progress, reverse-engineered concept for the fictional Vandamm House as depicted in “North by Northwest” (1959) by director Alfred Hitchcock. Original house designs by Robert F. Boyle. The movie only shows portions of this modern, architectural icon. It’s depicted as a stone, glass and steel dwelling projecting out over a rocky canyon some walking distance from the Mr. Rushmore National Monument. Production designer Robert F. Boyle reportedly found inspiration for the cantilevered design from the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. I find the house to have fortress-like qualities as well perhaps befitting the abode of an international spy /fine art dealer character such as Phillip Vandamm.
