There were many others, who composed mainly waltzes and other dance music, or were famous because of their waltz compositions. This series features the other waltz kings. Archibald Joyce (1873 – 1963) was a British light music composer known primarily for his early waltzes. Many of his waltzes were transcribed for the solo piano and widely sold in his day. He is known as the English Waltz King. The Vision of Salome, published in 1909, is one of three Salome Waltzes that I will be uploading. These are waltzes orientale, mystical, evocative of the mysterious east, and apparently very attractive and popular to the western audience then, This waltz is also well known as one of the waltzes played in the ill-fated Titanic Liner.
