The house is set in a third of an acre of gardens with panoramic sea views across Start Bay from Start Point light-house to the mouth of the River Dart. There are numerous fantastic pubs and restaurants in the area, including the King’s Arms Pub which is only a minute’s walk from Strete Barton House. Ideally situated to explore the South Hams; only one mile from the award winning beaches of Slapton Sands, Blackpool Sands and Slapton Ley Nature Reserve and lake. The South West Coast Path is a mere 50 metres away. Five miles to the East is Dartmouth, home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, located on the River Dart with a wonderful selection of shops, galleries and restaurants. As well as stunning coastal walks, there are a number of National Trust properties to visit, including: Greenway, the home of Agatha Christie; Coleton Fishacre and Overbecks. All bedrooms feature luxurious pocket-sprung mattresses, Egyptian cotton sheets and feather down pillows, wall mounted flat screen TV with DVD/CD player, free Wi-Fi access, iPod dock/radio alarm clock, extensive beverage tray, mineral water and luxury toiletries. There is a guests’ drawing room with sofas, armchairs and open fireplace. On arrival guests are offered home-made cake and tea or coffee served in the drawing room, or on the terrace in our garden overlooking the sea. Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden. Strete Barton House has received the AA Breakfast Award for “a very special breakfast, with an emphasis on freshly prepared local ingredients.” Our breakfast menu includes: Full English Breakfast, homemade fruit-salad and poached plums; cereals; granola; yoghurts; home-made preserves; breads and pastries; coffee and a large selection of teas.
