Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places I've been. It is a lakeside village located in the western shore of the Salzkammergut region of Austria. Hallstatt is known for its salt-production dating back to prehistoric times and due to the demand of salt, miners decided to settle and became a community. Due to this history and culture it has been well-preserved and was eventually listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a funicular railway that goes to the ancient salt mine and to the Skywalk Hallstatt viewing platform where you can enjoy a breathtaking scenery of the whole place.
